A cob's dimensions are relatively meaningless since the bar could be rolled in many shapes and the assayer cutting the bar could cut the piece in any manner he chose, so long as the final weigth was accurate. Before 1728, the piece of eight's prescribed weight was about 27.5 grams; after 1728, about 27.1 grams. The usual denominations were 8,4,2, 1 and 1/2 reales.The coin's weight was proportional to its value.
The weight of a coin could be reduced slightly by 'clipping', deterioration or other reasons. I don't see any features on your find so wont venture a guess of what it might be.
