Seems like if it were a door pull, the small loop would beturned opposite the larger loop so it would lay flush to the door. Possibly it hung from a chain or cord for pulling?

How about a little Victorian magnifying glass to be attached to a chain and worn around the neck?

Me thinks it's too heavy a piece for a monocle Buckles... and the round part is the size of a dime.

I wasn't going for a monocle, but rather a magnifying glass held in the hand.

CHATELAINE
A Chatelaine is a set of household tools each attached to a chain and usually worn at the waist. Chatelaine tools frequently included scissors, a needle holder, thimble, vinaigrette, pin cushion, etui/necessaire, writing tablet, pencil, perfume bottle, seal, boot hook, etc.

Nice work with that photo, Galt!

Now, the real question is whether or not the item looks like it could've held a thin lens or not... if you could take a look and let us know, smokedaddy.

You guys might be on to something here. If you look at my photo, you can see where there could have been a ledge that sticks out on the inner of the circle that would possibly hold the glass part.
