Hi all. Got out in a cornfield today and found a few things but I need help with an ID for this little gold gilded item. Button? Cuff link? Neither? Thanks for your help.

From the back I think you have one half of an old cuff link.

I'm guessing half a a colonial era cufflink.

First thing that comes to mind is the knob on a kerosene lantern that you turn to raise & lower the wick.

Wow, neat find! I am leaning with everyone else, towards the cufflink, but since I haven't seen one with that type of connector on the back, I wonder if it may be one side of a stamp ?

The attachment on the back makes it look like it could be a stamp of some type, but I see no raised lettering or details. Hopefully I can pick up some naval jelly tomorrow and if anything is hiding, it will show. Thanks to all for your suggestions so far.

After some cleaning, no detail at all. Just showed some more gilt.

I found this cufflink years ago and has the same attachment...I can't find the actual cufflink right now but it is a match from the back...
