I found this last week and never posted it because i was trying to figure out what i had.
When i first dug it, i was sure i had a nickel but i did not see a design. once i got home, i did a little toothpicking and
found what i believe to be a broken shank on the back side. So, i concluded it was a button.
The front is pretty plain as well with a possible circle design of some sort.
Again, indicative of a button.
But here is the strange part. I have never held a button so thick before and it just felt like a coin. So, i compared it to a nickel.
The dimensions are exactly the same!
here is a picture of my find from the side.
And this is my find next to a nickel. The thickness and dimensions are exact!
Then i put them both on a scale. Again, almost the exact same weight!
4.31 Grams Vs 4.33 grams
So, is this a nickel turned into a button? If so, any ideas of what kind of nickel?
Or, is it just a button?
Thanks for your input....i would love to figure this one out!
