Just because I took a picture of this next to a 3 ringer doesn't mean I think it is Civil War related. That was just for size reference. In fact it was found no where near a battle site. Seems to be made of lead. Magnet will not stick to it. Base is flat, solid and 12 mm in diameter. Top has a hole in it about 1/8 inch deep. If anybody has seen anything like this the diamond pattern on the side should be a dead giveaway... Thanks for looking.

A modern muzzleloading bullet. Yours has apparantly had the nose deformed, though I don't see rifling grooves. Doesn't look to have been fired.

Looks to me like the bullet was pulled. The only way to unload a muzzle loader besides shooting it is to pull the bullet using the ram rod and a worm or screw.
