Found this today next to a stone foundation...other finds indicate the site was built early-mid 1800s. It kind of looks like a buckle but it's small and very thin. I could bend it in half with little or no effort if I wanted to.

Any thoughts?

hair clip....pin would be placed through center...a guess...looks very old to me...maybe pre victorian....breezy may know for sure.

I agree with bigfoot1 - sure does look like a hair clip! Also, I am also wondering (just like DoranHashemi) what the other side looks like.

The other side looks the same but upon closer inspection i think i see some decorations. I'm about to head to class but I'll clean it and take some more pics when i'm back.

I was also thinking hair piece.

Here is the other side. You can barely see flowers on the left and right sides of the piece.
