I found this today. Can anyone help identify. If it is this old it will beat my oldest coin by nearly a hundred years!

pretty sure you have a colonial, but cant find it yet just alot of similarities, I bet somone gets it quick

I cant find anything in rebook, it must be a English, coin in 1790, I believe we were minting our own and certainly wouldent have put the king on one. I bet we learn something when others start lookin it up

Thanks Texan, This was found in central Wyoming. I wonder how it could have gotten here?

the "rex" part i beleive is common to old english coins

I think re-tek is right..the only 2 coins I found that was issued in the US in 1790 was a Standish Barry Threepence and Albany Church Pennies. Looks like it is from the Old Country for sure. Nice find.

There is a local detectorist who found one of the Albany church pennies....And get this...It was at the church!!....lol. I heard it was a VERY valuable find.

Mackaydon was able to ID it.

Gaming Counter, imitation 'spade' guinea, George III (1760-1820), brass, Birmingham, England, Great Britain, after 1790.
Apparently an old time poker chip or trade token.

Thanks you Mackaydon!

Beat me to it, they were still making these with dates of 1790 in the mid 19th century. Not heard of any 20th century types but yours is in great condition. Normally very thin brass & the ones I have found are never as good as that.

Really cool coin no matter how it got there . You just never know what is gonna pop out of the dirt.

A gaming token is right...I found one last year with a hole in it dated 1868. Here's a pic. Not worth alot but to me a great find. They only minted these tokens until around 1799 if I'm not mistaken, so you found something definately from the 1700's!!
