Is ther gold in Cedar Rapids Iowa?

I leave today at noon for a week long business trip in CR. Does anyone know if there is gold in the area. Should I take a pan?

yep theres gold there BUT the environmental people of CR has talked the gubermint into NOT allowing prospecting in most of their country. I have a friend that lives there (Bill C R) he built a 10 inch dredge and would tow it out to the gold being creeks that have alligators in them. now it sits on the beach rusting away! I think you can work up in the hills way away from anybody, BUT them you need to be aware of the local crooks. and MUM is the word on what your doing and where your doing it at!

Yea bring a pan! I live a little west of there near Marshalltown. Pretty much glacial flour, but it's around if ya find the right spot.

Heck I'd bring a pan just to get away from "business" for a while! You never know for sure until you look, but there is plenty of glacial gold to be found all around Iowa.
