Re: Is the minelab 9" 18.75klhz coil any good and does any one own one?

The 18.75 kHz coils are all good for jewelry hunting and coins. The 9-inch concentric seems to be a bit "hotter" than the other two frequencies. As such, I find that I have to lower the sensitivity a couple digits, compared to the 3 kHz or 7.5 kHz. So I suppose one could argue that it is a "wash" with the other two freqs on depth of detection. One drawback I find with the higher freq coils is that the audio response on scraps of aluminum isn't as pronounced as with the 3 khz or even the 7.5. In other words I'll dig more tabs with the higher freqs than the lower freq. But as I said, the 18.75 frequency is an excellent coil for jewelry and coins. Whether you would be better off with the concentric or DD depends on your soil mineralization. A rule of thumb that I use is the Ground Phase setting of 28. What I've found is that if I am able to properly GB my X-Terra with a number of 28 or higher, concentrics will work just find. If the site is so mineralized that it requires a GB setting of less than 28, I am better off hooking up one of the DD's. JMHO HH Randy

The 5x10 was the first coil I slapped on my X-70. I have found several pieces of jewelry and a whole bunch of coins. This is the only coil I use in city parks.

For what' it's worth to X-Terra users on this forum; IMHO I would really pay attention when Digger USA responds with hints or suggestion. I'll leave it at that.

The 6" DD at 18.75khz is great for any area, but excells at areas where you need that seperation of targets. My son routinely pulls out .22 shells at 6-9 inches. The thing is a killer for coins and jewelery on the X70 in all metal/multiple tone. HH

I'll have to second the motion to listen and learn from Digger USA (Digger on most forums)
My son Sam and I have had the privilege of knowing Randy for sometime now, and I have to honestly say that the finds we've made are in no little part to his time, patience and knowledge.

Hmm i wonder ive used the 9inch concentic 7.5klhz and the 9inch 18.75klhz concentric and so far like the 7.5klhz better. Its seems like its a better overall coil than the 9inch concentric 18.75klhz as far as coins and jewlry
