Today I was at a buddies house working on his car. We needed some parts and he needed to pick up kids from school. So I went and had him drop me at auto parts store while he went and got the kids with my car. He gave me the funds for his parts. I got the parts and got the change.

I got a 1909 Dime ... I don't know much if Anything about coins besides what dates I suppose to be keeping prior to . I do believe this be my first keeper coin.
says 10 cent on back , 1909 on front with a ladies head or what I think is ladies head may be a mans. Was pretty stoaked instantly. Clerk was shocked as well ... was like "No way" I'm like "Yea" ... He tried to take it back and give me another but I wasn't having any of that.

I went as far as to replace my buddies change with a real dime and then told him the story when we got done fixing the car over beers .

So now I gots me My Lucky Dime.
Mr.Crabbs & Spongebob ain't got nothing on me no more !!!

Wooo HOOO !!!

Don't take much to excite me. I know it not directly connected to my nail and detector issues of late but I still think it's the big man in the clouds messin with me again. I could go another 30 years and not have this happen to me again I bet.

Was a good day. Didn't do no detecting but found treasure just the same.

Hope all has a great day !!!

that is SO awesome....a barber in circulation! very nice.

that goes to show, it pays to be observant.

A big congrats! I used to know someone who worked in the cash office at the local Walmart and he gave me all the silver coins he came across that were kicked out of the rolling machine. Lots of silver rosies, a few mercs, some silver washingtons and a few indians, but no barbers. So, a big congrats to you......

Way to go! Sounds like someone got into Gramma's stash.

Way to go, I take it your MD has learned it's lesson after sitting in a tree and thinking about what it hadn't done? :whip2: I know from experience how they get into circulation, once my kids found rolls of silver dimes and promptly went and spent them on candy at a gas station :BangHead:

that would be a 1909 barber dime --its a guy with a wreath on his head not a gal on it -- look on the non head side low on the bottom below the wreath design see a letter id so thats your mint mark --no letter its from philadelphia --- often these coins have heavy wear --great snag --btw might want to check your local banks --get a few rolls of dimes and quarters --if someone cashed in old grannys or grandpas coin collection to the bank for "paper money"--a lot of silver might be in lying around the bank -- and since the rolls of coins are always worth their face value --it cost you nothing to look thru them --we call it coin roll hunting --or CRH for short---good luck --Ivan

How rude, that is Miss Liberty you're callin' a dude...

sorry the short bob hair cut "miss liberty" looks a lot like a guy to me -- sorta like ceaser with a wreath. -- maybe was a gal but not the fairest one of all --sort like susan b. anthony --on the dollar coin --- homely gal--
