The past few weeks I've been cleaning out stored items, cases, and file cabinets so when I build the new display case for my office I can have a spread of only local tools and points. Yesterday I came upon some of the tools and heartbreakers from a month long screen dig at GV53. After I did an article for "Indian Atifact Magazine" on this event , these "extras" that didn't make the display boxes were packed up for when I have a place for them. It's been fun to reassemble on the large table and hear them talk to each other. Yeah I'm nuts, aren't you? I threw a scale in so ya'll can see the small nature of the items. Do to the rarity of stone around here Bone and sometimes shell was used for many utilitarian purposes. Any flint was completely exhausted till it was so small you have to wonder if it was discarded or lost. Hope you enjoy, Thanks G

Man how did I miss this post Lone Star ? Still a lot of great study items. So what brought you to this site and why? Sounds like it was a lot of fun. Can you tell us some of the story or do you have a link? I would enjoy reading about it. Very cool tools and will look good in the office for sure.

Tn Mnts, I just love the hobby. I have an interest in all things ancient and I love to hunt , dig, screen and slop all for the fun of it. Never sold a one. In 30 plus years living in Texas I've had a hell of a go at it. Met a lot af great people on digs and hunts, and I walked a lot of desert and hill country.. I even built an artifact screening machine and bought a small backhoe/loader to use with it. It will go thru a yard of campdirt in less than 4 minutes. You can get a lot of points that way, and not miss a single perdiz. Thanks for the good word, holler back sometime. Thanks G.

I am always trying to come up with a way to recover items quicker but of course my soil is way diffrent than yours. Here the trick is water I guess. I used to live near the Brazos. Lots of nice Texas and Okie folks on here.
