Is it worth looking for errors on halves

I narrow them down while I'm searching for silver. I only set aside 72, 73 and 74 as those are the ones that will bring you a good sum.

Try keeping both eyes open when using a magnifying glass, it cuts down on the strain. Lighting is important, so tilt the coin this way and that until you get the "perfect spot" it gets easier and easier to find it after the first couple of coins. I open up all the shades and turn on the overhead light so I get light coming in from all angles, it helps.

I use a halogen desk lamp from Lowes. I get a sunburn on my bald spot after a long night of CRH'ing but it helps on the eyestrain. Keeping both eyes open was a BIG discovery for me.

Now if I could just do something for my back!

As several people here do, I set aside the 73D's, 74D's and 77D's to look for the double dies. Other than those I will take a quick glance for obvious errors (I have found 2 clips and 2 strike throughs) but I will not examine every coin with a magnifying glass.

Clips... or planchet errors... Are they worth much?

I found a half last week with one.... I just set it aside because I'm not an error coin person --- Yet.. ;)

The other few I've found and set aside were the collar or rim being incorrect... High and normal on 85% of
the half, but 15% almost or completely nonexistant... This seems to be from the "upsetting" machine that
puts the rim on the blank planchets. This results in a coin that looks "off-center" or shifted... IE, the
last "T" in "Trust" runs right up to the missing edge of the coin.

I know to look for the doubleDies, but not sure about the above clip/Planchet errors... for me it is more of a
curiosity coin and goes into a seperate location than the normal hoard.

1997-Ds slightly off-center are common. Where the rim on the obverse is wider on the bottom left, and there is no rim at all above and to the right. Though they are not worth anything, as they are not an extreme type of error.
