is it worth it?

do you like finding wheaties, merc's, buffalo nickels, silver quarters???? Of course!
You may find toy lead soldiers and long lost things from the past.
Maybe even lost jewelry - ya never now. But I'd certainly detect it!

Your yard is the first place to detect. If your a novice, there's no better place to practice and familiarize yourself with your machine.Your house was built in the '40's,what was there before that?HHMMM??

The house might have been built in the 40's but what was there before, check out courthouse or library to find out if you haven't already. HH Bob.B

Look at your pocket change right now and see how old the coins are. Now imagine it's 1940 and this is your new house, what kind of coins are in your pocket? Definately search your yard.

Best place to learn how to dig cut plugs and patch up is in your own yard.
