Is it the base related? Any ideas on how old is it?

Found this metal detecting at a site of an training base. Practice base army air field. Is it related to that or is it civillian? It says KEMINGTON 20 GA EXPRESS is the back missing? Was this on a shirt underwear? Brass im guessing. It was 4 inches deep. Is it the base related? Any ideas on how old is it? Why does it have two holes and a dot what does 20 GA mean?

Remington 20 Guage Express button. Not military related.

Button is complete. A quick Google search says they date from the 20s and 30s but I can't confirm that.

See that's the issue you run into, different sites say different things. Maybe someone with firsthand knowledge will give some input on the dates.
