A friend was in Florida on the beach last year and found this at low tide south of Miami.

It's heavy and doesn't stick to a magnet. He scraped the edge and it's a light yellow inside and out.

He just has is shoved in his dresser drawer beacuse he doesn't think it's anything real.

Can anyone help ID it?

Thanks.

REALLY... damn.. Then what would it be made of? How do you color a metal, like lead thru and thru? I would think the heating process would remove and color.

No no no I mean I buy them off boardwalk lol I'm not that smart

It has the look of possibly being real gold that was poured into a cast of an Escudo.

Gold holds up well in salt water but is a relatively soft metal.
This piece shows no signs of being struck..instead ..poured.
It also shows no wear from being in the ocean..or at least shifting sand for hundreds of years.
It also has a portion of the outer legend that although didn't come out of the mold real well.. or even intentionally altered looks to have said "copy"
My guess is it is made of a mixture of brass and zink.
