is it real or not? X2 (solved by Chug & Red with Trixie Charger's Assist)

I found a pin... it came out of the ground looking just like this... no corrosion... except where the steel pin was...

It rang up like a penny 70+ VDI... it weights 8.1 grams

It looks like silver... but there are no marking at all...

Is it a war medal? WWI? WWII?

Is silver always marked?

I have also found an arrowhead necklace & a belt buckle tip off a ladies cowgirl type belt that acts and looks the same way but neither have markings too. Are they silver? Do they fall into this same category "no mark silver" all 3 items have this weighty feel to them.(I'll post them later)

Re: is it real or not? X2

Looks to be silver, and WWII period. Most, but not all marksmen badges were marked "sterling"
But the ringing up as a "70" on the Whites makes me wonder.
Cool find, either way.

oops, sorry, maybe not a buckle...just looked at it again it hit me, the size is way small for a belt buckle. great find anyway.

Found at the beach - surfers cross, as BCH says.(apparently surfers use the Maltese cross to signify thy're surfers for some reason. There was a thread about it last year here.)

In the dirt - Badge from a Hells Angel, maybe.

I thought the "marksman" badge has a circle in the center?

(I'd go with Hells Angels badge myself.)

Saw a lot of this type of thing in the 70's, they were fashionable for a while, some were hand made, others cast in bulk. Bikers and other similar types had them as badges. Nuggy

WW I era marksman badges tended to look like the top picture.

WW I Marksman Badge.jpg

WW II era (and up to present day) were like pics # 2 and #3.

One of the makers of the sterling badges was Fox, though some are sterling and without any markings (last pic)
