I found this ring a while back in a cornfield along with a crotal bell. The ring rang up like silver and feels like silver but has no markings that I can see. It has green and red (emerald and ruby? ::)) crushed stone(?) patterns worked into it. I showed it to a friend and he thinks it's silver but he's not exactly sure about the age. Also, it doesn't fit my ring finger but does fit my little finger. I'm basically wondering if it's possibly colonial based on where I found it which is an old area.

It's kind of hard to tell through a forum, but I suspect that maybe it is not too old.

Back in the early 90's, when we had a cafe/bar/convenience store/campground/gas station/gift shop sort of thing, we sold rings just like that. They were extremely popular back then. We sold hundreds every season - both real and costume.

People would come around just before summer, selling rings (and other items like watch bands and earrings) similar to the one you have - some real (real silver, real white gold, real turquoise and corral), some, not real - most sellers would sell both types - so, even if its not old, you should look inside for markings, because not all of them are costume jewelry.

Picture is a bit rough. From what I can tell, it reminds me of a mid-late 60's or early 70's inlaid style but very likely I'm wrong.

emerald and ruby?
:D Indeed!

Thanks Beth, as I stated there are no markings that I can see. What makes me think it's silver and my friend is the weight/conductivity of the metal. However, I'm no expert by far and I have much to learn in the Jewelery dept. as I haven't found much yet... :dontknow:

Lol, I see you see why I posted the rolling eyes next to the comment. You may very well be right on the time frame, my friend said the same thing but wasn't sure.

The crushed stones are probably turquoise and coral. I used to have a similar ring. It is more than likely Sterling as this was a popular ring style back 20-30 years ago. It is of Southwestern design and was frequently produced by members of the Navajo (and others) tribe for sale to tourists. Nice find and design.
