Or am I not the only one to go from a Garrett ProPointer to a Sun-Ray & actually miss the ProPointer? I lost my pinpointer a month or so ago & figured it was a sign to finally 'upgrade' to a sun-ray. Been using the Sun-Ray lately & gotta tell ya, although it is a GREAT piece of machinery & is worth every penny, the Garrett EASILY wins this battle IMHO. Why? Well...

For the simple reason that the ProPointer beeps when close to the target and gives a solid tone ONLY when touching the target. The Sun-Ray gives a regular signal when the target is near, so, I have no idea if I'm the probe is actually touching the target or if the target is an inch away. On the Garrett this NEVER happened cause if the target was close, the Garrett would just beep until making contact with the target then turn into a solid tone.

Don't get me wrong, I really do love the Sun-Ray, but I call it as I see it & call a spade a spade. The Garrett has the Edge IMHO

I for one, Love a Great tool and will always Have a back up!!! That Is why I'm going to Buy Red Her own Garrett's propointer!!!!

Just remember that every battery is different and Before chucking it in the Lake try a different battery!!! That would have been a Bad Mistake!!! HH Chug

Some batteries are slightly smaller and Will cause the Propointer to act differently, shutting off when the cap is tight, shutting down when you are Pinpointing etc!!!!
then there is the chatter when you are Pinpointing the Gold Ring!!!and It decides to stop working Right then( change the battery)!!!!!!!! HH Chug Cant wait for the Second one!!!!

What does this post have to do with the topic at hand?

To the OP, the SunRay saves so much time. For one, it detects from further away and lets you know if it's a coin at 8" or a nail at 10" that is fooling you. It can easily save a minute or two per hole by not chasing the wrong item or an item you don't want to dig.

Why do you choose to harass anyone who responds with a post you dont like? GET OVER IT! They were trying to help saying if they choose a different brand battery it may help the tone or "chatter" they are hearing!

Some of us don't have the luxury of even choosing to use a Sunray. Last time I checked they didn't make them for Tesoro detectors. But I totally agree about the benefit of the Garrett ProPointer beeping faster as it gets closer to the object. That feature alone makes it better than just about any other pinpointer on the market.

Does the Detector-Pro Pistol Probe beep faster as it gets closer to the target? I've heard good things about that probe so I'm curious about how it works.

I asked what it had to do with the topic at hand. It's like me taking a post off topic by saying how well I like the SunRay when flowers are close by. It did nothing to advance the topic at hand. Much like your post and this one of mine in response to yours.

Nothing in the OP mentioned ANYTHING about chatter.

Hugs and kisses.

In response to the question on the pistol probe - I don't know for certain if it beeps faster as it approaches the target, but I do know that it detects very deep for a handheld. It doesn't have the vibration feature. however and as I wear headphones that cancel outside noise pretty well, I find the vibration feature to be important to what I prefer in a pinpointer.
My two bits.

Haven't used the Pistol probe, but I use to own the DetectorPro pocket probe and still own the DetectorPro Uniprobe and both would beep faster the closer you get to the target, so I am willing to bet the pistol does the same thing......

Both the pocket and the uniprobe are deep, you could adjust the sensitivity from about a half inch to 6 inches. They are not tuned to a detector so can be used on any detector, you do not need to buy one for each different detector model like you do with the Sun Ray probe.

The Uniprobe comes with a fantastic headphones set, both the detector tones and the probe tones go through the same headphones, you chose which otmes to hear with a flick of a switch......Only way you can lose the probe is to lose your detector.......
