Is it even possible to fix this beach hunter id

Hello all. Im in central Fl so family visits all the time. For years they have wanted to use my excal and BH id.. Well.... Ill never loan my metal detector to family again, only took one time.
My detector that Ive kept like new from day one came back with,
Ear phones busted off,
case cracked,
and salt water inside. family said oo it looks repairable. As im unscrewing the case and dumping water out of it, in front of him.
Very frustrating/frustrated..
And now i hear whites is closing, ugh. Is it even worth sending off to repair?
Personally i think they shound buy me a new one..?
Any and all thoughts are apprieciated.

Now as i think about it more, yes they should buy me a new one.
it dam sure was a coin finder. lol
Should i have them replace it with a tdi?
OR another brand? whites closing kinda worries me.
Only like new one i found was $695 take that and put towards fisher x8 i think they call it..??
Never bought beer or food the whole week, im still mind blown over whole thing..

Im sure if it was there 4wheeler, side by side or snow mobile while i was on it it would be different story..
They did leave shortly after...

They are family so just let it go . if they ask to detect again tell them it's still broke from last time they used it .
A person of good character would have offered compensation for the damage done.
