Ok, found this tonight and I'm sure it is a ring but not too familiar with silver stuff other than a few old dimes (mercs, rosies) It says Sterling inside the band and has a symbol similar to my horrible artistry below. Any Silver enthusiasts in the house? It looks kind of dull which is why I'm leaning toward not silver but what do I know. Oh and as a dummy I scratched the inside prying it apart a little as it was crushed flat :tongue3:

It appears to be a sterling silver ring with love birds on it.

Thanks! I never even heard of makers marks... you learn something new every day... this hobby is awesome! On my AT Pro it came up as a dime/penny and was about 5 inches deep, I almost threw it away as it it looked like a piece of junk metal but then saw just the tiniest bit of design (the birds) and took a closer look. Not worth a whole lot but I think it's cool and that's all that matters. I'm assuming it wouldn't be worth it but I wonder if an expert could reshape/fix it. I would have my doubts as it looks like it might be cracking where the bend is. here is what it looks like whole.

Also my first Silver ring!!! really happy I upgraded to the AT Pro. I'm already saving up for a high end detector. Not sure how much more I will find vs the AT Pro but I'm addicted now and want the best (yeah I'm one of those).

On flattened rings with no stones, I've used a tapered punch (drift) and a plastic headed hammer along with some propane torch heat to reshape them. Don't get too carried away heating it. Just enough to keep it from cracking where it's kinked the most. If you heat it too much, it might come apart where it's soldered. As you heat, tap on the ring to drive it farther and farther onto the punch. The final "rounding" of the ring can also be done on a metal ring sizer.
