Iron Tool With Initials...

I found this iron tool today which has the length of c. 30 cm (12 inches) and weighs one kilogram (2.2 lb). It has the interesting and old initials 'C.H.'. It looks like a tool you would split things with. It also looks like it would fit a wooden pole in the end of the tool. I'm not sure about the age but maybe around 1700's to early 1800's. Any help would be very appreciated about the age and identification.

maybe a spud (bark pealing tool )

You use it to remove/peal off the bark from the newly sawn off trees. It's one of the first processes when you're making the tree fitting to work with.
