Is it embedded in that root? How funky is that?

What state was it found in?

Cool! I'd leve it in the root also. What a neat conversation piece. Did you have to get the chain saw out to get it?

Logically the root must have grown through the stirrup. Therefore if you could date the age of the root you would know a rough date of when it was lost.

How far away from the tree was it & how old does the tree look?

Yes, it is actually embedded in the root and the chainsaw was required to extract it. It was found in Taylorsville, Kentucky, about 30 miles south of Louisville.

It's a military cavalry stirrup... probably right in line with all your other finds from that area for age

I had a gut feeling that you would figure this one out. I mean.....Being from Montana and all.

For your information, they now make these 4 wheel things that you drive around and put gas in them. Consider looking into it.

You worked really hard for that...thank goodness it was a good find and! not just a hunk of discarded iron! Good find
