Without scientific testing you probably won't be able to date it....I used to find these hiking as a kid where the train tracks had been removed in the early 1900's. Some of them were in extremely good shape, some very poor and all from the same time frame...just depended on the soil conditions where they were lost.

If you found it in far west Texas where the area is desert like it could be very old. If you found it in East Texas where is is a bit damp and humid most of the time it could be fairly young.
