Hello all,,,
I got out Thursday evening for a few hours. (02/02/06) Didn't find a whole lot, $0.27 in clad, (2) dimes, a nickel, ?(2) pennies and this what's it?. It looks like some type of iron spike, but not a R.R. spike, or at least none that I have ever seen. Maybe a wedge of some sort, but it doesn't look to have ever been struck by anything... No markings, of anykind, that I can see. I meant to though a ruller in for size, but it's about 6" long, and the big end of it is about an 1" to maybe 1-1/8" thick. I think I might do the electrolysis thingy on this one It's got me stumped, any clues?
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Looks like old 18th century cut nails. You find them in the dirt around here near the old barns. They didn't bend alot when you whacked them through hand hewn lumber. Came in many lengths, hard as heck to pull out of lumber though, since the heads wear off quickly. And they destroy a saw blade in a heart beat.
