My dad ended up with this iron thing. Its about 18-19 inches long and 7-8 inches wide at its widest point. It was found on a farm about 60 years ago and the man that found it, the same guy that owned the farm, said he had no idea what it was. Round edge triangle describes its shape for one end of it. If you place it on the ground with the slit in the up position it looks like a boat hull. Anybody know what it is?

Could it be a tooth from a heavy equipment blade? Another person found a part that was claimed to be reinforced metal from a bucket of a CAT D9. One of you are going to find the dozer next!

Welcome  My grandfather has a small collection of old farm equiptment. It looks very much like a tang or claw for tiling the fields on an old pull behind plow.

:read2:

It look like a attachment a cobler might use, for repairing shoes :icon_thumleft:

I am inclined to gues it may be a tooth from some kind of farm cultivator or such. The obvious sharpened and machined point is what gives me that impression. Monty

Not for cobblers! It is the top of a metal forming anvil.
Curved side for hammering out the curves an the other
for flattening. The point is for fitting into tight corners.
The striaghten flat edge for making sharpbends in a box.

The reason for the slots is there might have been other
tools that would fit on the base and for space saving if
it were mounted like on the tailgate of a wagon. I will
search for a picture link.
