Ceramic Object seems to be hollow in the middle, very curious what it's purpose is.

Both found in a site that was the old city dump from somewhere around ~1880s-1940's maybe.

If we could see a pic of the underside of the ceramic piece it might help us. :icon_scratch:
But I'm thinking possibly an insulator of some kind from an electric fence.

The iron fragment looks like it was mounted on something, maybe an iron fence finial.

Added! My bad.
It kind of curves upwards from top to bottom and downwards from side to side.
The ceramic piece also seems kind of decorative, there's dimples on both sides of the hole, where it looks raised.. but maybe that's it still idk.

The white thing resembles the neck and shoulders of a “porcelain” doll. Maybe the head mounted through the hole.

I find it interesting that there's what appears to be rust on the top of the hole, which would indicate it had a nail or something else iron in the top. But from your picture, it looks like the hole doesn't go through the body of the ceramic piece? I think this would rule out it being an electric insulator. :icon_scratch:

Hmm yeah... now that you've pointed that out, it almost looks burnt?
Maybe it was an incense holder?... although some of the cracks under the glaze have that color too so idk.

Could it be an inkwell and could the rust spots have to do with the type of ink being used?

Iron gall ink can oxidize paper and make it brittle. I wonder if it could corrode a metal writing instrument as well if not taken care of.
