Ok I know this is “just iron junk” but I’m hoping someone may know what it is anyway. It looks somewhat like a horseshoe but it isn’t. It’s a bit under three inches in either direction and about a quarter to 3/8 inch thick. I thought maybe a drawer pull or something but the bar going across does not appear to have been a hinge or pivot. The ends of the “horseshoe” are flat and slightly enlarged, as if it might be designed to sit up on them (which it can). Both sides appear to be identical or nearly so. This is from an old house site that as far as I can tell is probably from the late 1800’s.
Any ideas?
