Iron hook thingy and iron pointer thingy.

I've been digging at an old homesite and have found a multitude of items that I could use some help identifying. Many items, buttons and such, appear to date to the 1830s. This first item is flat iron, about 1/16" thick, with one end shaped like a pointer. The other end is broken off. A heavier, sort of half-round piece is welded to the face. Two rivets, positioned diagonally on the piece, obviously attached it to another piece of thin iron, remnants of which are apparent in the second photo.

The second item is hook-shaped, nearly 1/4" thick near the eye and tapering to about 1/16" at the "point" of the hook. The eye has a 1/4" pin running completely through it. The two are rusted together, but I suppose the hook originally pivoted on the pin. The white arrows mark points of wear.

Also, here's a pic of an 1828 Classic Head half cent (12 stars) that I found at the site.

I've got a guess or 2 about the first item. Guess #1 part of a weathervane and guess #2 part of a scale the part that points to the number. I've got no ideas on the second item. Good luck IDing them.

#3 pic is an old iron gate hinge/latch....I'd say the top pics are parts to an old latch also. would there be an iron fence near or around the prop. you're detecting? Although some old ice boxes use to have hinges similar to the shape of the pointer looking one...

The first item looks like a piece to a sickle bar for cutting hay . That half rounded part might be fused do to rust .
Not sure about the hook thing .

I was also thinking some type of hinge or latch, but how would the hook part come into play in the hinge role? Would the hook be attached to the gate or to the gatepost? There haven't been any signs of an iron gate/fence on the property, but that's not to say that there wasn't at one time. Actually, all that remains visible above ground are two collapsed fireplaces, about 48 feet apart.

ideas.....since the found ones have rivets in them they apear to have come from a trunk...or some other kind of metal/iron box maybe a tool chest!
