I've found a few of these at a 1890's home site, and wondered if someone knows what they are. It's fairly heavy, maybe a quarter inch thick, four inches long and two inches wide. It has two holes that are countersunk on one side, so presumably screw holes. Then it has a wedge-shaped thing on one end that looks like a dovetail joint. Here are photos from several angles (click to enlarge). Does anyone know what these were used for?

bed rail fastener
That was my thought as well, but I wasn't sure. I've found other bed rail fasteners there that were different, so I guess there were multiple beds.
