Iron handle?

I found a bunch of those things too. Don't know what they came off of.

Yes its a handle, its just missing the mounting plate that fits over it and connects to a chest!

It could be from an old wash tub, as in the kind folks would take their yearly bath in. Papa would have the clean water and by the time the 12th child took his bath, the water wold be black from year old dirt being scrubed off.

That's where the phrase 'Don't throw the baby out with the bath water" came from.

I think it is from an early leather, heavy duty bag, like the kind the postal service used.
