Found near CW bullets and some trash so could be 1865 weapon/stage coach or 1965 house door handle. Bent, weighs 1.32lbs, 11" x 3". Iron-ish non-magnetic, feels hand-made(forged?) and smooth. Shape of a (playing card) spade at both ends.
Close up is of threaded screw hole on larger end.

Any thoughts, advice or marks to look for? No marks seen with the naked eye. Thanks for any help.

It looks like the remains of a thumb latch. It could easily date from the CW era or anytime to the present. They are still being made.

It is cast, not hand made or forged. The lack of deep green patina seems to indicate fairly modern, as flint says they are still made today.
