Relic Hunting
Josh dug this unusual iron relic as we hunted a CSA camp yesterday. It has a "pigtail" on it as if it was meant for something to hang on it. The diameter would be about right for a tent pole and maybe a lantern would hang on it. We are puzzled. Any guesses? Thanks, Quindy.

Hard to judge the size of it. :icon_scratch: But it reminds me of part of a hand guard for a sword. :icon_scratch: So I'll just shoot the Idea out there to get the ball rolling. :D It looks like the other side has a piece that's broke off. :icon_scratch:
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

I guess I see it different now. :icon_scratch: Maybe that middle piece is a wedge for driving down in the post/pole/handle. ??? And I guess it's a round opening in the bottom/& not oval. ???

I think it is a harness part.

Bingo!!

I don't recall anything similar in any of my CW books. But I also don't recall a specific harness part like that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Best Wishes,

Buckles

It's part of a livestock yoke. I dug one in my front yard a few years ago, and didn't know what it was until I saw a complete yoke at a Cracker Barrel. I'll try to find a pic.
