I found a bit of old iron...several pieces of which I do not know what they are
.....(large clamp with loop? metal piece with holes in it?)
...a lock-unsure of time period but perhaps not too old,
....a garter clip?,
....lots of square nails,
.....I think a metal button but very corroded,
.....a broken spoon,
.....foil that looks like part of a calendar...I wish I worked at getting more pieces of that and might have found a year. I thought it was junk foil until I inspected it.

.....not one coin this time, modern or otherwise...

At least there’s less iron in that area now, keep looking!

Given the items you have pictured, I’d say the site is old enough to have some silver hiding there some place. Keep at it by removing the iron. Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement!

Nice stuff. Nothing wrong with iron. You can’t help thinking “ what is it and who used it “ A neat part of history.

Very true, kromar! I run into many “What is its?” and I do like rediscovering history, doing detective work, and sharing finds. Happy hunting.

I would think if that spoon is iron it would be pretty old.

Nice bunch of relics. The large long piece at the top of the first picture is a connecting rod from a car, truck or tractor motor. One end connects to the crank shaft and the other to the piston. Congrats

Keep looking in that area since you've cleared away the iron. :icon_thumright:

The spoon is from a 1700s site. It is ferrous. I was debating about trying to give it some time in electrolysis. I have a show and tell/donate session scheduled with the Heritage Society.

Nice old stuff ..enough to return to the site for more.. Good luck

Thanks a million, Hawks! I couldn’t figure that one out. Good to know for my show and tell session. Thanks to you I will have more to tell!

I think the loop thing is part of a curtain rod type clamp , i have zinc/ pig iron ones ,

The big lamp? Hmmm..Hubby says for
crankshaft
it would have to slide on vs. just clamp on sommaybe it is a curtain rod clamp. The jury is still open in this one
