on all the sites they show steel for like 200 a ton. but does anyone ever cash in only like 100 pounds? or do you need a whole ton?

Hmmm "tin" (steel less then 1/8" in diameter) goes for 2.5 cents a lb here
If you have a mixed load then it's 3.25 cents a lb (some big stuff some small)
Steel (over 1/8") is 5 cents a lb here.....
I tend to bring in a lot of mixed loads, as I save all the "crap" from taking stuff apart. And then throw in any bigger stuff I find. If I were picking up tons of Steel, then I would separate between big & small.
I was only hauling in AL, Copper, Coated Copper Wire, Brass & Stainless, but was finding my dumpster was full of stuff I couldn't bring in. Now I pick it all up. I only go to 4 locations & my "mixed loads" are bringing in an extra $25 a week w/o doing much different then before, other then going to the scrap yard w/ an extra load every week.
