OK, this one irked me, so I want to vent.
On July 3, I went to a B of A in the "less fortunate" part of town. When I walked up to the teller's window, I see about 10-15 silver halves in the tray. I ask if I can buy them, but the teller says he is saving them for someone else. I ask if I can buy just a few, but he says no, so I say OK. He did sell me about 20 rolls of halves, which revealed one Ben though, so it was not a total loss.
Today, I have some time on my hands, so I go back to the branch, and what do I see in the tray - the same halves! I ask if I can buy them since it's been a couple of weeks, and the teller says he is saving them. I said I knew that, but since it's been two weeks, I don't see why I can't buy them. The teller says no, and I ask to speak to the manager. She speaks to the teller, and comes back and tells me they are being held for someone else. My explanation that the coins have been there for over two weeks did not get me any traction, so I just said thanks and left.
I felt a little miffed by this, so I sent a note to Customer Service letting them know that I took exception with the branch's policy of holding desirable coins in the tray for weeks at a time. I made it clear that I am a coin collector, and then suggested that they consider placing the coins out of sight.
I feel a little better now. I know I am not entitled to the coins, but it sucked not to get them!!
