This silver ring says "Made in Ireland" and has markings I've never seen before. It rings 88 VDI on the DFX. This was a night hunt so I didn't know I found a live bullet. I usually ID everything when I get home. That's the only drawback to night detecting. You might be walking around in the dark with live ammo in your pocket! ;)

All this was found at a school.

Cheers!

Nice ring! I found exactly the same one a couple of months ago by eyes on the ground!

it is a claddagh ring. celtic design. depending on which way you wear it it means your heart is taken on available.

Cool ring! I found one a year ago, my wife has it now.

Irish "freindship ring" called a "claddagh ring"---if given to a man from a man it means undying loyality to the other ---as in best and loyal freinds till death----however if given between a man and woman its a classic engagement ring----(.925 = sterling silver)---celtic type styling-- two hands holding a heart with a crown---irish galic terms often written on it mean "let love and freindship reign" ---a highly popular item with anti british irish folks (IRA supporter types also irish mob types often wear one) however it may as well be just plain vand simple"old time & style" irish folk ring that belonged to some nice sweet lass---you never know do ya?-- humm rather a bit odd to find a live round with it though is it not,---empty casings or fired cartridges are fairly common thats true but live unfired ones are not --- Ivan

Thanks for the info on the ring guys!

Bullets? Strange? I find bullets everywhere! I just didn't know I had a live one jingling around in my pocket tonight. :D

Man those are some nice ring finds. Congrats What kind of camera took those close ups? The pictures are really great.

uh nick --Ivan here-- that um "ring" you gave the irish gal was a "ummmm" classic irish type engagement ring--she of course thinks you "preposed" to her and that your "heart" is really hers---no matter that the "other" woman took her man--she'll be after you forever or till she takes another for a husband----and that could be awhile irish gals tend to "lock" on to a guy long term---boy are you shafted ROFLMAO --- Ivan

Ringfinder,
The camera is a cheap Fugi A360. The super close up was produced using a magnifying glass-light. You can buy them at Lowe's for $14.00.

I stuck the ring behind the magnifying lens and took a few shots with the close up button pressed.

It's a great way to see tiny markings!

Hello Guys,
About the cameras,....... I think most of the people just dont know, but almost every single snapshotcamera comes with a macro setting. Usually a little flower on the display. I have a Canon Powershot, and the cheapest one, and I've been able to take closeups where I could identify markings that were unvisible to the eye before.

You have the luck of the Irish Dude.
"They're always after me Lucky Charms" ;D
Congrats Night Stalker.
Actually, I'm not surprised you found a bullet at that spot you're hunting at. I would think there would be a lot more there. ;)

It's called a cartridge people, the "bullet" is just the lead part.

correct ---you are right ---if you must nit pick about it---- its called a cartridge or sometimes a round by folks in the military or as most everyday type folks simply and incorrectly call it a bullet---since it has a photo of it in the post ---folks can easily see what it is (looks like a .38 cal pistol " round to me)---so there is no little doubt if it being misidentifed as only a "bullet" or just the lead part like a old muzzle loader would use -- most folks know their are 4 to 5 parts to a modern cartridge --the primer that the firing pin hits--the casing or body that holds things together--the powder and the bullet or shot (and in the case of a shotgun shell-- wadding) so why the fuss?

Nice rings Ridley!! Is the other one gold, or are they both silvers?
Sweet finds buddy, keep em coming!

Smiles!

The Claddagh Story
The romantic story of the mystical and beautiful Claddagh Ring began way back over 300 years ago in the ancient fishing village of Claddagh just outside the walls of the City of Galway on the west coast of Ireland.

Legend has it that a local man, Richard Joyce, was captured by pirates and sold into slavery, the property of a rich Turkish goldsmith. In time Joyce became a master craftsman himself and, on earning his freedom, returned to Galway.

Back in Ireland a young women had never stopped waiting faithfully for her true love to return. When Richard returned he presented her with the now famous Royal Claddagh gold ring - a symbol of their enduring love.

They soon married, never to be separated again. there is no sentiment more beautiful than the one Richard carried home with him in his heart and we celebrate in jewelry of all types.

The heart symbolized the love he yearned to share... the crown his undying loyalty... and the hands, friendship because it is the foundation of love and loyalty and holds the two together.

From that young man's life we all can take comfort that the goodness in one's heart can always conquer the evil of others. Evil is no match for the powers of love, loyalty and friendship. Pirates no longer sail the seas around Richard's island, but every day men leave the shores to fish knowing that they will, if the sea is not high and the currents not too strong, return to the ones who love them.

Wearing the ring
Wear this ring on your right hand with the heart facing outwards and the world will know your heart has not yet been won. Wear it on the right hand with the heart facing inwards and it shows you have friendship and love under consideration.

But worn on your left hand with the heart turned inwards it means two loves have joined forever
