Hurricane Irene blew through Central PA overnight and in to Sunday morning, we were a lot more lucky than those on or near the coast, we had 3½" of rain and a power outage for about 6 hours. As soon as the skies started turning blue again I headed for "Evil" park as Jeff calls it, of course I called Jeff on the way to say come on out and play but he declined, he was suffering a much longer power outage on his end of the valley.

The weather turned absolutely perfect when I got to the park, temp in the mid 70's with a mild breeze blowing and no humidity. I stayed for about 3 hours and had a great day. Finally broke my silver dry spell with a 1941 Merc and a silver ring that appears to have been homemade.

My take for the night; 6 quarters, 8 dimes, 9 nickels, 25 memorials, 5 wheats (1922, '39, '44 and 2 '53's), 1 1941 Mercury Dime plain, the ring and the big number 25 which looks like it would have been attached to a car at one time.

Happy Hunting!!

Looks like you had a blast! Nice saves!

2.5 i believe

'22 wheat, plain?!! If so, good one

You must have found a hidden corner of "evil" park because I don't think we ever left with that much clad, minus the days we bought access to the pool.
Nice job on the merc and ring as well. Shall we start calling you "clad master" :laughing9:

I also went out after the storm in Creedmoor,NC and put the excal 2 to its first test. Wow, the tones are going to be hard to learn but i cam out with 3 pennies and a dime. It was amazing while the wind was howling. The wind was coming through my headphones. Even though i didn't find much in the half hour before it got dark it was amazing to detect in that area while the strom was moving. Nice finds!!!

you don't want to see a D on that 22, btw If my car ran better I would have been heading to DE to coin beach area after this storm!!

creeper, a few of us were talking about heading down there in the next day or so. We were told, however, by others that the beach is currently off limits? Any idea whether there is truth to that or just greedy people trying to keep the beach to themselves?

There is truth to this! I checked with the town department of the beach i am heading to in 2 weeks and they said mostly all the way up the eastern sea board the beaches are off limits. People can't even go onto most islands or towns right now until they evaluate the conditions, flooding waters etc... Each town will evaluate there own openings. Hope this helps! I am counting the days until the disc can hit the beach!!! good hunting!

nice finds Dave you must have been Hustling :laughing7:

Double (Triple) Check that 22.

This morning got ahold of a live person at PPL
told me Major damage over 250,000 without power.
tuesday at earliest Wednsday morning Latest.

Cleaned out My freezer Came home & Power is on.

Is "Idiot" the correct word for PPL ?

Well guys, I have obviously overlooked the potential of finding a 1922 wheat, so, when I get home from work I'll dig through the penny bin and take a much closer look at that coin.

Den, I don't think I found any hidden corners but I may have hunted a little "tougher" spot....in other words I walked up and down the banks to the east side of the pool. I actually walked them up and down and them worked them "side hill" too.

Jeff that sucks that you had to go through that crap with the power outage, hope you didn't lose too much!!

Thanks for looking!

Dave

Won't know for sure till I Eat it &

threre were 100 people at coin beach the day after the storm went past. the gates were closed and they were towing cars from the road.
the second day was better, the gates were open but jeep access was closed. i think by now its all open. some dunes were trashed but there was a ton of sand on the beach, no cuts , some valley washes.
found 2 coppers well ok 1 and a half , the one is worn to about nickel size.
pray for katia
