I was invited to a hunt this weekend by forum friend Rayredditch, we had a great time! Another German friend accompanied us and the camaraderie was just great! We did not find much in highly potential areas however, just some averages for Germany, look forward to doing it again soon. Today I hit a field I have wanted to hunt for a long time, it was a typical bust and not much was found. Here’s the field, at the end of this ridge is a medieval castle.

Here’s the finds from today, not much for 4 hours of field time. Went to an abandoned military housing area afterwards for about 1.5 hours and dug some clad to ease the frustration. Every bit of German history is outside my door and I just can’t get my coil over anything old, dang it!

Some finds from my last hunt in Bavaria, there is a Prussian belt fitting with a crown on it from 1880-1918.

My finds from the hunt with Ray and Bernd. The most interesting find for me was the button, looks French.

Close up of the button, the shank is intact but folded over. Not really sure what to make of it. Sorry about the quick post, I have to cook dinner, clean up and take a shower. Any volunteers to tend the apartment, cook and clean? You will have full access to the 225 square kilometers of crap fields I detect and you can keep your finds, actually it would be mandatory that you keep your finds as my trash can is not that big, LOL. HH, Mike

Mike,
Looks like some pretty nice finds to me. Great looking button. Fantastic pictures too.
Thanks,

Hi Mike, we´ll find some better fields next time round ;-)

Great times with good friends .That is what it is all about. The fields around Hapstule are loaded with nice stuff . Before I left I was hunting there alot and found several 1700s and one 1600s coin there.Give that area a shot but you will dig a lot of 50 cals there also. That button is real nice and the pictures are great also.

We were digging lots of cases (And live) where we were ;-)
But we´ll give it a try too Trent.

P.s. Did you mean Hauptstuhl ? Just up past the A6-A62 ?

Nice stuff, Mike, I did not understand what is shown on the button, but your belt fitting I guess made of zinc, they started to use them in the 1900s.

I was once this weekend on the field and find 1 nice relic, will post later

Thanks all! The button appears to have a shield/coat of arms in the center, a sword from top to bottom behind the shield, plumes/feathers around the shield, crossed muskets behind the shield right side and looks as if the left side crossed muskets may have broken off. I will have to check and see if there is any hallmarks on the reverse but I do not think so. HH, Mike

Mike, Glad to see your pulling a few nice things out of the ground. Also nice to hear you had a good time with a few friends. That always makes the hunt interesting. Nice button by the way. If you don't want it just send it to me. haha All fun aside, your BIG FIND is coming, just hang in there buddy. Happy Hunting All

Sounds like a deal. So how do I sign up to keep up the apartment and hunt the fields? I've got 3 months open next summer.
