So I have been on the forums for a month or so now. I haven't seen much about folks tracking their finds other than maybe an excel worksheet. Does anyone use a database to track all their finds? I design databases and had thought about creating a web based tracking site. Maybe a place to track finds with GPS locations that could be mapped. Keeping count of silver and such. Any interest or ideas by anyone? If anyone is interested, let me know. I would like to use something for my own use, but if enough interest is there, I could for sure include some other that are interested.

I saw a MS Access file on-line back months ago doing the same thing, nifty file, not very sophisticated. No developer name on it. I entered a few things in it, grew bored, and hadn't opened it up since then except when I saw your question here.

Did you get bored with it because of the hassle of having to enter things are just because it was too primitive?

If some of you veterans remember "Treasure Log" --that was mine. I have not thought about it in years. I must have created that little app in 1996 or 97, somewhere about that. I was using a Tesoro Bandito II at the time (maybe a Bandito). At any rate, reviews at the time said that it was the best program available. I don't even have a copy of it these days.

I should add... I made a version for Palm devices several years ago. Now that Palm is dead, my Tungsten E2 sits idle most of the time. I still have the app on the Palm OS.

Awesome Mickey. If I do decide to make one it will be web based. PHP/SQL.

So I have decided to move forward with this and it will be in the works over the next few months as I can find time in between, work, school, family, digging (of course), and the holidays. It will be listed under diglogs.com If anyone is interested in testing it out, please let me know. I will be looking for feedback and recommendations to make it exactly what everyone is looking for in a tracker.

Hey Mickey, was it Treasure Tracker?

Treasure tracker was a nifty little program to log finds if you just wanted to keep track of coin totals by denomination & year end tally. If so , I think I've got a copy somewhere.

So since my CTX is off for maintenance and my fisher is acting up, i have been detectorless for a couple weeks so I got to work on the initial design of a web based tracker system. Feel free to take a peek. The basics are in place and will continue to advance the website to include many more features and advanced tracking.

Website is located at: Dig Logs :: Dig Logs

Now I understand why you were asking.

I use an iPhone app called Arrowhead Collector. You can take pictures of what you find and save them along with the GPS coordinates on a satellite map of where you find them. Really simple user interface. Good Luck!

Thanks for the post sosa. Eventually I will get a mobile version, but not an App in the near future. I did get Signature banners up and running though. It pulls data from the website and adds current stats to your signature.
