Hello Adventurists,
My daugther, who is Vice President to the Will County Historical Society of Lockport, Illinois, got me hooked on metal detecting, a few months back. She is also an author of Digging up the Dirt, which is about a Poor Farm in Joliet, Illinois. Anyway.....I have gone on a few digs, finding mostly current coins, but one nickle from 1941 and a token/coin on the Historical Society property, which I donated to them. It says ONE PENNY on both sides, and SAVE THEM on just one side, with the outline of an Elephant on each side. It's smaller then a dime and thinner, and seems to be made of silver. We are still in the process of doing research, to find out exactly what it is, for it has no date.
I look forward to finding more relics and hopefully valuable ones. Happy Hunting!!
