Well, it has been a couple of months since I have had time to take the ACE 250 out for some fun, so I have been trying to find some possible new locations to hunt. I came across a story about an old cemetery dating back to the mid 1700's, so tonight I figured I would go check it out. I went to talk to the home owners to see if I could get a quick history lesson about the property and where the original church was located. It was an elderly couple that lived in the house and the lady started to talk, but then her husband came out the side door and starting ask me questions. I introduced myself and he did the same in return, but then informed me that I was on private property and he didn't care what I was doing there as along I was in the cemetery and not his land. Without so much as a second look he put his arm around his wife's shoulder and walked her inside. I was half laughing at this point because I didn't even get to ask if I could hunt their field, it all happened so fast.
I decided to take a look on the other side of their of the fence line which is behind a shopping center and the land had been rather freshly bulldozed so there were large mounds of dirt and what looks like some sort of slate stone. I walked the length of the field keeping my eyes on the ground incase something happened to be out there. I was a tad shocked at what I found. The glass jar was half in the ground, I looked it up and seems to be a Capstone company jar dating from 1919 - 1938 used to jar food, the horse shoe was just sitting on the dirt right beside one of the large mounds...I need to go back with the detector now
