Im sure most people on here already have alot of resources. Just thought i might help out some other newbies such as myself. i just stumbled on this. The website allows you to select a state, then a feature such as man made, or streams, lakes etc, then the county. it shows you on google maps the locations.

The EPA just launched a new mapping site also
http//: enviroatlas.epa.gov/enviroatlas

The enviroatlas combines hundreds of data layers developed through collaboration between the epa, US Geological US forest etc.
