Hi all

Found this metal detecting. Got the characters "V R J1453" and seems to be brass. At first thought it was a suspender clip but it looks more like a seal or tag. Dimensions is about 35mm x 28mm

Some more pics. Sorry it took so long.

There is no writing or markings on the back. It's still a bit wet since I was in the process of cleaning it.

V R often stands for Victoria Regina (Queen Victoria) but usually has a crown with it. The only thing I can think of is your item is a strap seal or strap end. What other relics are you finding nearby?

Hi DCMatt

I've been finding loads of 1881 - 1886 English buttons and Anglo Boer War relics amongst this seal thingy.

VPT,

I just saw your two videos on relics found at your battlefield site. Very interesting stuff. I'm not much up on the Boer Wars but I poked around the internet and found some info on a couple of your relics and have some speculation on a few others. Please PM me so we don't have to bore everyone with ramblings in the forum.
