Re: Spanish Thieves Strike Again

QB30,

This is a story about the Spanish police restoring to the Peruvian authorities some items that had apparently been stolen from Peru in recent times by a Costa Rican citizen, who had somehow managed to borrow them for an exhibition, and then disappeared with the material, apparently taking it to Spain.

So what is the basis for suggesting that the thieves were Spanish, and why did you add the word "again"?

Do you know more than was in the article to which you provided the link, or is this just another example of somebody taking an unjustified swipe at Spain? Strikes me that the Spanish police/authorities come out of this with considerable credit.

Agreed, I will change the title on this thread for now but lets see where the story goes, shall we?

funny thing --- if the spanish had found these items during the years that peru was under spanish "conquest" in the old days these same items would happily sit in some spaniards collection or in a spanish measuem ----but since some one took it "post - spanish" conquest --after peru kicked the spanish out ---- spain will assist in returning the "looted" items --of course the things they took while "in military" control of the area were not "looted" but rather spoils of war -- kinda like the nazi's did when they raped france for alll their art works during WW2 (the nazi's too were "offically" in control of the area at the time )---but if its long enough ago I guess it doesn't matter huh?
