My guess would be an electrical wire splice or end piece

Looks like a support for something to me, perhaps a wooden shafted tool of some sort

Yeah when I first found it I thought there hadn't been a house on the property so I was thinking some type of support for an old weapon. But it does look pretty similar to the electrical end connector thing, probably it. Navy button was civilian fashion too..

Maybe it was for a spark plug wire connection?
