✅ SOLVED Interesting rock? Gravestone? Borderstone?

Hey everyone I was in the woods near my early house site, and I happened upon this stone. It was an eerily shaped rock, and the material is very different from most stones I happen upon. It looks like a grave and is in proximity to my site I detect. It has no inscription, but I read about gravestones called fieldstones. The people who lived in the house as far as I can tell were not wealthy and kind isolated. It looks almost too small. Perhaps it is something with surveying? I could be completely wrong and ranting and raving about nothing. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I agree, it looks like a grave marker to me too.

Looks almost like marble in one pic. I thought I’d found something unusual in my yard when I found an out of place stone turned out to be the former owners dogs burial marker... maybe not a person but a pet?

... I didn’t dig up the dog FYI... I just asked the previous owner about it

I have see foot markers that look like that when we on a deer lease around Possum Kingdom Lake. There was a grave of a child name Erick dated 1897 and an old homestead site four graves in all.

Pet grave most likely could very well be

Looks very similar to a slave graveyard I found near an old plantation. It has a cools story, apparently, when they logged the area the loggers wouldn't go near it so it's easy to find b/c the trees around it are 2x as big as the others.

It could very well be a gravestone. We have a cemetery in our back yard. Some graves just have a big rock or slab of whatever they could find. People without the money or means to make an engraving would put a rock or nothing at all.

Thanks for the responses ya'll. Sorry I was inactive, very intriguing it could be a grave. The stone is close enough to the old house I detect for it to be a grave either person or animal, regardless my shovel and I will avoid the area. As for the picture, the stone is still currently how I found it.

Yes I do believed it was placed. As to the recency I am not sure. What makes you believed it was placed recently? I jiggled it slightly with my boot to see how sit was placed.
