interesting rock found at mi lake.

Hello I am new here I found this odd looking rock and wanted find out what exactly could it be? It's interesting shape and sparkly features got me wondering.

looks like a fossil of some sort. wild shot in the dark here, sea urchin or something?

Thank you for reply's everyone I compared it to most sea urchins and sponges this 19 century image is kinda close to the rock yet it has lines instead of the dots?, I think I will just keep it in display case and if we agree on some other reason I can smash it with hammer and we can find out what's inside https://www.123rf.com/photo_42493380_19th-century-engraving-of-a-sea-urchin.html

That is an enchinoderm fossil. I found hundreds of them 1500 feet above sea level off the northern coast of Haiti.

Oh Hell, don't smash it! There's nothing in there, and it's a nice specimen!

If you told us pretty close where you found it, we can even tell you how many millions of years old it is + or - a few mil.
