Hello, I found this interesting knife blade today and thought I would post it. As you can see its about 3 inches long and I would think it had to be hand forged. I found this at a mid 1800's farm house. Got the date from two large cents I found as well, a 1851 and 56. Here's a thought, I have found lots of small 32 caliber round balls as well and am about a mile from the ohio river and a small steam that dumps into the river. Could this be some kind of small skinning knife? The man could have been a trapper. Something to think about, and thanks for looking.

Looks like a type of shaving razor.

Sure it is a knife blade and not a utensil handle?

Its a knife blade, its very thin and still a little sharp on one side. the tang is a little thicker as well, to hold the handle.

Yep it's a 1820-1860 style spoon handle called a fiddle-back.Much like the one in my hand.Besides it would useless to make a knife from copper with is what I see.
Take Care,
Pete,:hello:
