I've been studying this area for a while now, but found a striking example of the strata in this location today:
The topmost bed is benthic limestone (shallow sea floor) rock where I've been finding most of my brachiopods, crinoids and other marine fossils.? Note the coal seam immediately below it.? To gain some sense of scale the coal seam is about a foot think.? Far below the coal seam I discovered this ancient beach:
Here's the same strata about over a mile south:
