Hey guys!

Me and my bro are in Spokane Wa for the weekend for a detecting trip. We hit our uncles church in Millwood but didn’t have much luck so we moved to a new spot. Along a beach, I found 2 trade tokens from Lewiston Idaho And was wondering if anyone knew more about them. I looked up GEN MDSE 609 Main St. which is the address on the token but google didn’t have much info on it. From what I know it could be from 1908-13. If anyone has any info about it I would be very appreciative! More to come by the end of the weekend!

Great tokens... if they were common they would be listed on the online token database...
im sure you saw on the token database website that the company's was listed in Idaho directorys from 1908-1913
They don't have a image posted though so your tokens could be the first

Nice finds Washingtonian Jr. Tokens are a piece of history you can hold - neat. Thanks for sharing...

Nice tokens, pretty amazing you found a 5 and a 25 that makes it that much more interesting. GL on the rest of your hunt.

Cool old store tokens.i have dug a number of those "Good fors tokens"and have only researched some of them.Nice finds indeed.

Nice Finds! Charles P. Hinkle and Euclid Code were partners in a general merchandise store at various locations in Lewiston for many years, but the 609 Main Street address only seems to appear around 1920. Hinkle seems to have been the managing partner - they were brothers-in-law. Code moved to Spokane in 1934 and died there in 1965, so that may be how the tokens came to be there. Also known from this merchant is a 50¢ denomination, so there are probably 10¢ and $1 ones out there as it was typical of a general store to have all if they used tokens.

Thank you for all the information! Do you know much about the rarity? Or is this the first of its kind?

They are fairly scarce - I know of 4 or 5 of the 25¢ ones and 8 or 9 of the 5¢ ones.

Tokens are always a very nice find. Finding two of them in different denominations is super cool! Congrats on a scarce pair of cool keepers mate.:headbang:

Hi, nice finds.:icon_thumleft: i love those old tokens

Very cool finds and awesome on the rarity! It’s cool to think that they could have been brought to Spokane by one of the partners!

Highnam - they are listed on tokencatalog.com, but just the 5¢ one is pictured there. I don't agree with your "if they were common they would be listed" thought - since that database is largely populated by volunteers, not everyone has taken the time to do the work required to get their tokens listed. Plus a lot of people who have tokens are unaware that the site exists and/or don't care to share.
